Wonderful staff and program. It literally changed my life…! I was in incredible pain and being wheel out in a wheelchair to my car my this kindhearted caring staff. The day my last day I not only walked out I’m my car but elevator wasn’t working doing so went down 4 flights of stairs with h no pain! The Pain HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and his place, its medical and equipment and its staff!!

The Disc Institute of Pgh saved my life. Im not being dramatic. I was in SEVERE neck pain, on and off, for years. Did I say severe ? It was SEVERE. Then, one day it came, and never left. Nothing helped. I’ll be honest, my husband & I were leery, thinking Dr McCafferty’s practice might be a scam, but he was so confident & reassuring that he could fix me, that I took the chance. It was either trust him or turn to heroine or any other drug that would bring me relief. I didn’t care at that point. I just wanted out of my horrible pain. Well, here it is approximately 8 years post-therapy and I’m living a full life. In these eight years being pain free, I’ve sold a catering business, took full care of my aged mother until her death at age 99 1/2 and am now a goat breeder ! YES ! Living a full life BECAUSE of Dr McCafferty & his team 💕. He truly is a compassionate man and cares about his patients 🙏🏼

I came to the disc center after a friend’s referral of having success for ten years. I had my surgery scheduled for two bulging disc pushing against my nerve. I couldn’t, sleep sit for long periods of time and constantly in pain. I tried physical therapy, steroid injections for three years which wasn’t helping. I feel God lead me to the Disc Center. The staff were consistently amazing, they genuinely cared about me and my progress. I felt significantly better after 3-4 weeks and I did have a set back from lifting one of my grandchildren half through but my back kept better and better as I did my treatments. You have to do 50 sessions which seems like a lot but you get to be around this wonderful staff which were like family to me and knowing that you are getting better is worth every trip. I am so grateful I did this therapy and I feel so much better, I can sit on a four hour airplane ride, hold my grandchildren, take long walks again and my sleep is much better. Best of all I avoided surgery. This is a pain free and easy maintenance after completing the program. I would recommend this to anyone with lower back issues, save your money on injections, physical therapy and surgery!

It’s been 4 years and it’s difficult to put into words how impactful this has been on my life. I’m in almost zero pain after years of unbearable agony, it is a blessing to feel as good as I do. Of course, being in my mid 40s, if I over do it, I get sore. But with a herniated L5-S1 disc and continuous pain, it was a daunting thought how would I be able to manage going forward. I did all of things (which nothing helped) including begging for surgery. Thank God I did not. The DISC Institute saved my life and I can’t believe it’s been 4 years. It is an investment, mostly with time and dedication. But it is so worth it! Thank you Dr. Richard Rafferty and team for what you do and the impact you have had on my life!

My experience with the Disc Institute of Pittsburgh could not have been more positive. I had 3 severly deteriorated disc's in my neck that resulted in significant pain and discomfort. I had lost strength in my hands and arms, and had difficulty sleeping at night for more than 30 minutes at a time. Like most people, I was skeptical that a non-surgical approach would work, and was aware that many neck surgeries do not result in good long-term outcomes. I decided to receive treatment from Dr. Rafferty and completed my treatment in March of 2025. I am now back to living life to it's fullest. The pain is gone, I have full range of motion, my strength has returned, and I sleep through the night without any discomfort. This experience has been truly life altering. Dr. Rafferty and Amy, along with the entire staff are exceptional people and care deeply about helping and healing others.

I sought out The Disc Institute after my second herniated disc because I did not want to have surgery again. The treatment provided allowed my disc to heal and I am still pain free after over 8 years. Dr Rafferty and his staff are great and they treat patients with great care and compassion. I would strongly recommend The Disc Institute to anyone looking for a permanent solution to disc pain.

I hurt my back in October of 2024. I started with a chiropractor which helped at first, but then started to get worse again. Feb of 2025 I went to a neurologist and got an MRI which confirmed I herniated my disc in my lower back. When I went for my follow up after my MRI they told me I needed surgery and will be preforming a Lumbar Laminectomy. While scheduling the surgery, I was told about the Disc Institute. I called made an appt and had Dr.Rafferty look at my MRI, I got the call they could help me. After a hard consideration as i was skeptical, I cancelled my surgery and started the healing process at the Disc Institute. After the 12 weeks, I had little to no pain. I have been done with the program almost a month and living my life normal again. I cannot thank Dr.Rafferty and his team enough for helping me with this process and always being there to answer questions or concerns I had. I cannot recommend them enough!

The Disc Institute saved me. If it wasn't for them I'd probably be crippled by now. I first went to their office in 2018 with two herniated discs in my back that every other doctor said couldn't be fixed and would require surgery (that would treat the symptoms of the problem but not actually address the disc being herniated). Luckily a good friend had gone to the Disc Institute before and vouched for them and their services. 7 years later and you'd never know I had had back problems. My back is healthy and when I developed a herniated disc in my neck two years ago I knew who could fix it. I'll always be grateful to Dr. Rafferty and the members of his team.
